A Strong Need to Help Ex-Offenders
We all make mistakes, but for ex-offenders who have paid their dues, they still face the social stigma as a result of their imprisonment. Sadly, even their families and especially the children are not spared from this stigma which greatly affects their self-esteem and hope for the future.
At ISCOS, we deeply understand the challenges an ex-offender faces after incarceration. Many of them will usually be turned down by employers because of their ‘record’. Some do not possess even the basic education or relevant skills, limiting their choice of employment drastically. Others struggle to support their children’s education. And there are ex-offenders who experience severe alienation from their family and friends.
When these ex-offenders become our co-op members, they no longer face their struggles alone. With the collective efforts of our staff, volunteers, friends and supporters, we extend a hand to this marginalised group, helping them in practical ways so they can rebuild their lives.
