Institute for Career Development
The Institute for Career Development (ICD) was established and incorporated on 13 October 2010. It was set up to formulate and meet the learning and training needs of Singaporeans under the Workfare Training Scheme (WTS) and WDA Continuing Education and Training Standards (CET) Masterplan.
ICD delivers competency-based learning and training with measurable outcomes for the general workforce in Singapore. It has a committed Advisory and Academic Board to advise on management system, business development, administrative and executive decisions, other than academic advisory & review, and updates on training and learning developments and outcomes.
Being a socially responsible training organisation, ICD will actively take part and contribute to the social initiatives and events of ISCOS. ICD was pioneered by three enterprising individuals and a partner organisation, RE Holdings Pte Ltd. These individuals are Mr Goh Cheng Lian BBM PBM PBS, Mr Desmond Tan Kwang Hwee and Mr Tan Tee Hwee. They are very active entrepreneurs and grassroots leaders in various communities who share a common vision of levelling up the workforce competitiveness in Singapore.
Besides conducting competency-based skills training programmes as a LCCI approved Registered Training Centre, ICD also develop and delivers contextualise workplace training programmes on productivity and operational excellence. ICD maintains its quality & delivery of effective training in compliance with WDA CET standards.
The Institute is also dedicated to support older citizens who are keen in rejoining the workforce. It runs workshops and specialised programmes cater to Enhance the Employability Skills and Re-Employment & Entrepreneurship Skills. To reach out to these citizens, it will intensify collaborations with CDCs, CDAC, Mendaki SENSE, SINDA, CCCs and other channels.
ICD is committed to its vision and mission and it aims to achieve more so as to meet organisational specific needs. With the right work attitude coupled with lifelong learning and constant skills upgrading, one can then keep in pace with the demand in Singapore’s dynamic economy.
