Before the Circuit Breaker period, we met a mother with six children including a four month old baby. With the father serving time in prison, one can imagine how tough it was for her to single-handedly raise the kids and care for them daily. At their family home, we couldn’t help but notice that one child was sleeping on an old and soiled mattress, while another similar looking mattress was being hung over the corridor to be sun-dried.
After we reached out to our network for help, generous friends from Cozy Bedding donated two brand-new foldable mattresses to the house in April 2020, while others contributed items such as bedsheets, clothing and groceries that would be useful to the family. The mother was elated and grateful for everything. Our donor shared that “To us it may be a foldable mattress but to some, it’s a treasure. There are many people needing help out there.”
At times like this where fear and uncertainty seem to prevail, we need such kindness more than ever, and are heartened that the Circuit Breaker measures have not stopped people from coming together and supporting others who are in need.
