Our beneficiaries enjoyed themselves and learnt much at our third and final Tri-Event held on 22 September 2018. With over 80 parents, youth and children in attendance, the day began at the TKP Conference Centre with workshops for each respective group to further learn about expressing familial love under the annual theme ‘Love’.
The children were taught about different communication styles their family members might have and how to relate to them, while the youth learnt about forming core values and goals as well as how to manage emotions and build better relationships with their parents. On the other hand, parents were made aware about their own emotions and stress, and learnt how to take the lead to manage tough conversations and interpersonal needs of their family members. In the afternoon, the families came together to bond over art-jamming, where they expressed their emotions and perceptions of own family through the work on canvas.
We thank The Mapping Academy and the eight volunteers from SMU for facilitating these sessions.
